BYD India has crossed the significant milestone of 15,000 retail sales in the country, recording total sales of 15,102 units as of September 19, 2026, according to Vahan retail sales data. The achievement marks an important step for the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer as it continues to expand its presence in India.

BYD has strengthened its position in the Indian market through a portfolio of electric vehicles aimed at different customer segments. Its models include the Atto 3, Seal, e6, Sealion 7 and Seal U, offering options across premium passenger vehicles, family cars and fleet-oriented mobility solutions.

The company’s performance comes as Indian consumers are showing greater interest in electric vehicles. Rising fuel costs, lower running expenses, improvements in charging infrastructure and increasing awareness of cleaner mobility have encouraged more buyers to consider EVs.

BYD’s 15,102 retail sales reflect the growing acceptance of its products among Indian buyers. The milestone is particularly noteworthy because the company operates in a competitive market that includes established carmakers and several new electric vehicle brands. Its focus on design, technology, safety and premium features has helped it attract customers looking for alternatives to conventional petrol and diesel vehicles.

Going forward, BYD India is expected to focus on expanding its dealer and service network, introducing more products and improving its reach across major Indian cities. With the electric vehicle market continuing to develop, the company’s latest sales achievement could provide a strong foundation for its next phase of growth in the country.
