Casio has officially brought its G-Steel GST-B1000BD series to the United States, offering two striking all-black variants that blend G-Shock toughness with refined, dress-watch aesthetics. The GSTB1000BD-1A and GSTB1000BD-2A are now available for $510 each, following their initial launch in Japan back in June.

Both models represent a darker, more minimalist evolution of the GST-B1000 line that debuted late last year. What sets the BD variants apart is the extensive use of black ion plating across virtually every metal component — the bezel, bracelet, side buttons, crown, clasp, and even the exterior screws. The result is a unified, low-profile look that feels more at home under a suit cuff than on a hiking trail. The bezel notably carries no branding, allowing its appearance to shift subtly with changing light, while the stainless steel band combines hairline and mirror finishes for added texture.

The two models differ only in their dial treatment: the GSTB1000BD-1A goes fully black, while the GSTB1000BD-2A features a deep blue textured face. Both incorporate a brick-pattern dial design borrowed from the original DW-5000C, Casio's very first G-Shock from 1983, giving a quiet nod to four decades of heritage.

Despite the slim 11.6 mm stainless steel case — thinner than the full-metal CasiOak GM-B2100 — these watches don't compromise on capability. The core construction uses bio-based carbon-reinforced resin shielded by the steel exterior, delivering durability at a manageable 118 grams. Tough Solar power eliminates battery anxiety, while Bluetooth connectivity enables automatic time synchronization through the Casio Watches app. Additional features include 20-bar water resistance, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and Super Illuminator LED.
For those seeking a G-Shock that transitions seamlessly from boardroom to weekend, the GST-B1000BD series offers a compelling balance of understated style and genuine utility.
