Honda CBR500R Four Unveiled with a Inline-Four Engine

Honda has unveiled the new CBR500R Four, a middleweight supersport motorcycle designed to bring the excitement of a high-revving inline-four engine to a wider range of riders. Unlike the previous CBR500R, which used a parallel-twin engine, the new model features a 502cc four-cylinder motor that produces 51.8kW, or approximately 69bhp, at 11,000rpm. Peak torque stands at 46.3Nm at 10,500rpm, giving the motorcycle a distinctly sporty and rev-hungry character.
The CBR500R Four is built around Honda’s traditional inline-four formula, but with modern engineering aimed at making it smoother and more accessible. The engine uses low-friction technology, nickel-silicon carbide cylinder plating, DLC-coated valve lifters and a downdraft intake system. Its 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system is designed to deliver strong performance while meeting modern emission regulations. Honda claims the motorcycle can reach a top speed of around 210kmph.

Technology is another major highlight. The motorcycle comes with Honda’s E-Clutch system, which allows effortless starts, gear changes and stops while still giving the rider the option of manual control. Its throttle-by-wire system supports five riding modes, including Standard, Sport, Urban and two customisable User modes. Honda Selectable Torque Control and wheelie control are also included, giving riders greater confidence in different riding conditions.

Despite its four-cylinder engine, the CBR500R Four remains compact and approachable. It weighs 189kg, has a 780mm seat height and uses a 1,408mm wheelbase. The chassis features a steel twin-tube diamond frame, a 41mm KYB upside-down fork and a Pro-Link rear monoshock. With its forward-leaning riding position, aggressive CBR styling and premium larger-bike appearance, the new CBR500R Four aims to offer an international middleweight sportbike experience with the sound and character of a much more exotic machine.
