Hyundai Reveals All-New TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid with 81 km Electric Range

Hyundai has unveiled the all-new TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), combining a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an advanced plug-in hybrid system. The powertrain produces 292 PS and 38.7 kgf·m (approximately 379 Nm) of combined torque, with power delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Hyundai claims a 0–60 mph time of 7.9 seconds for the 4WD version.

The PHEV is equipped with a 17.1 kWh battery operating at 351 volts, enabling an estimated 81 km (50 miles) of all-electric driving. A 7.2 kW onboard charger allows the battery to be recharged at home or at public charging stations. This electric range is intended to cover many daily commutes, while the petrol engine provides additional range for longer journeys.

The new TUCSON measures 4,700 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, with a 2,785 mm wheelbase and 180 mm of standard ground clearance. The more rugged TUCSON XRT PRO increases ground clearance to 210 mm and adds all-wheel drive, all-terrain tyres, recovery hooks and enhanced protective cladding for off-road use.

Alongside its hybrid technology, the SUV features Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system with Gleo AI, the company’s first Smart Terrain Assist system and an upgraded technology-focused cabin. With its combination of performance, electric driving capability and rugged design, the all-new TUCSON PHEV is positioned as a versatile SUV for both city travel and outdoor adventures. Availability and specifications may vary by market.
