July 2026 brought major shifts to India's overall two-wheeler landscape. According to the latest Vahan retail registration figures, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) reclaimed the top position in total two-wheeler registrations, displacing Hero MotoCorp. Meanwhile, performance among pure-play EV players and legacy giants presents a dynamic mix of steady growth and sharp MoM recalibrations.

Key Market Highlights
1. HMSI Reclaims No.1 Spot from Hero MotoCorp
The biggest headline in July 2026 is Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) climbing to the top position with 4,40,961 units (+3.29% MoM growth). Hero MotoCorp, which led in June with 4.50 lakh units, experienced a 7.70% MoM drop to 4,15,534 units, handing Honda the lead in total two-wheeler retail volume.
2. TVS Gains Ground; Legacy Volume Concentration Remains Strong
TVS Motor Company delivered solid growth (+3.03% MoM) to reach 3,55,360 units in July, consolidating its #3 rank. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto (-5.38%), Suzuki (-3.72%), and Royal Enfield (-2.10%) recorded slight contractions heading into the pre-festive lull.
3. EV Startups Experience Divergent Trajectories
Among pure EV players, market leaders saw volume corrections: Ather Energy dipped 5.41% to 28,453 units, and Ola Electric fell 13.61% to 12,874 units. However, fast-emerging challengers recorded significant MoM spikes: Revolt Intellicorp (+42.96%), Ultraviolette (+42.44%), BGAUSS (+38.24%), and River Mobility (+33.44%) posted impressive growth.
