Bentley Enters the Electric Era with the New Torcal
Bentley has entered the electric-vehicle era with the launch of the new Torcal, its first all-electric production model and the brand’s first all-new car in a decade. Named after Spain’s dramatic El Torcal de Antequera rock formations, the Torcal is a large luxury SUV that combines Bentley’s handcrafted interiors with a high-performance dual-motor electric powertrain. The range opens with two models: the comfort-focused Torcal and the sportier Torcal S.
Both versions use twin permanent-magnet electric motors, all-wheel drive and an 800-volt electrical architecture. They are powered by a 113-kWh usable battery, with Bentley claiming up to 600 km (375 miles) of WLTP range. The battery can accept up to 400 kW of DC charging, allowing a 10–80 percent charge in less than 20 minutes under suitable conditions. Bentley also says that approximately 100 miles of range can be added in around seven minutes. Final European efficiency and range figures remain subject to type approval.
The standard Bentley Torcal produces 821 PS, or 810 bhp, and 1,194 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0–60 mph in approximately 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The model is designed to balance strong electric performance with a relaxed, luxurious driving character. It measures around five metres in length and offers approximately 460 litres of rear luggage space, supplemented by a 90-litre front storage compartment.
At the top of the range, the Torcal S delivers 888 PS, or 876 bhp, and 1,350 Nm of torque when Launch Control is activated. This makes it the most powerful production Bentley ever built. The Torcal S completes 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds, or 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). Despite its extreme acceleration, Bentley says the power delivery has been carefully tuned to preserve comfort and refinement rather than pursuing uncomfortable, record-chasing launches.
The Torcal S is distinguished visually by its darker, more muscular design, including black Bentley badges, black exterior detailing and a sportier body kit. It rides on larger standard wheels than the regular Torcal, while both models feature fully active suspension and rear-axle steering to improve ride quality, stability and manoeuvrability. The range is also available with powerful carbon-silicon-carbide brakes, while the Torcal S can be further personalised with a Carbon Fibre Styling Specification.
Inside, both models introduce a new interpretation of Bentley luxury. Curved displays sit alongside handcrafted veneers, premium leather and sustainable Dinamica suede-like upholstery. Bentley’s illuminated floating grille features 76 hand-applied LED diamonds, while the cabin offers connected services, over-the-air navigation updates, built-in Wi-Fi and the Bentley Dynamic Symphony, which uses recorded musical instruments to create a distinctive electric driving soundtrack. Available technologies include Touring Assist, Park Assist, Remote Park Assist and the My Bentley app, which can display charging status, range and vehicle information while also controlling cabin pre-conditioning.
With the Torcal, Bentley has not simply electrified an existing model; it has created a new flagship direction for the brand. The combination of up to 888 PS, rapid charging, long-distance range and traditional handcrafted luxury positions the Torcal as a serious high-performance electric SUV. More importantly, it signals Bentley’s intention to make electric power a central part of its future without abandoning the effortless comfort and craftsmanship that define the marque.
