Hero Vida VX2 Go FB 3.1 is the First Vida Scooter to Get an LFP Battery

The Vida VX2 GO FB 3.1 represents Hero MotoCorp’s shift toward Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) traction batteries, moving away from the NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) chemistry used in earlier models. According to the manufacturer's official specifications, the VX2 FB 3.1 utilizes a 3.1 kWh fixed LFP battery architecture. This setup delivers an IDC-certified range of 128 km and a real-world range (RWR) of 100 km, supporting a daily urban commuting cycle.

LFP batteries are different from other lithium-ion batteries that use chemistries such as nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC). One of the main features of LFP technology is its stable chemical structure. This gives the battery better thermal stability and makes it less sensitive to overheating under normal operating conditions.

Another characteristic of an LFP battery is its relatively long charge-cycle life. This means it can generally handle a higher number of charging and discharging cycles before its capacity begins to reduce significantly. This is relevant for electric scooters, as they are often charged regularly for daily commuting.

In terms of charging metrics, the scooter gets a 580W portable charger that can charge the battery from 0 to 100% in exactly six hours, or 0 to 80% in 4 hours and 45 minutes. For faster top-ups, the VX2 GO FB 3.1 is compatible with DC fast charging, which replenishes the battery from 0 to 80% in just 65 minutes, and reaches a full 100% charge in 115 minutes.

The powertrain features a swingarm-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) generating a peak output of 6 kW and continuous output of 3.9 kW, with a maximum torque of 25 Nm. This configuration enables a top speed of 70 km/hr, acceleration from 0 to 40 km/hr in 4.5 seconds, and a gradeability of 15 degrees. The vehicle offers three electronic riding modes: Ride, Eco, and Park, alongside reverse assist functionality.
