Kia has officially pulled the wraps off the all-new Syros EV, with the electric SUV set to hit showrooms later this month. Pre-bookings are already live across Kia dealerships and the brand’s website for a token amount of ₹25,000. The Syros EV is built on the same K1 platform as its ICE sibling and looks nearly identical inside and out, save for a front fender-mounted charging port in place of the rear fuel filler.

Battery, Range, and Performance

The Syros EV shares its battery pack options with the Carens Clavis EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric, but because it’s a smaller and lighter vehicle, it delivers more range. Buyers can choose between a 42kWh pack and a 51.4kWh pack. The larger battery claims a segment-best ARAI-certified range of 526km, while the smaller one is rated at 443km. The 51.4kWh variant is powered by a 171hp front-axle motor producing 255Nm of torque, good for a 0-100kph sprint in 8.1 seconds. The 42kWh version makes 135hp with the same torque output. The power figures makes it more powerful than its closest rivals, the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

Charging and Variants

Kia is offering 7.4kW and 11kW AC charger options. With the 7.4kW unit, the 42kWh battery charges from 10 to 100 percent in 6 hours, while the 51.4kWh pack takes 7 hours and 15 minutes. On a 100kW DC fast charger, the larger battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes. The lineup spans five trims: HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and X-Line. The 42kWh battery is available on HTK, HTK+, and HTX, while the 51.4kWh pack is offered on HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and X-Line.

Design and Interior

Visually, the Syros EV carries over the bold styling of its petrol-powered twin, including the distinctive LED lighting signatures, body cladding, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It will be offered in nine colours, with the X-Line variant getting exclusive Matte Graphite and Aurora Black Pearl options. Inside, the cabin is dominated by the Trinity Panoramic Display, which combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 5.0-inch climate control panel. Other highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and three interior colour themes.

Features and Safety

Kia has retained the Syros’s signature sliding, reclining, and ventilated rear seats, while the front seats are powered and ventilated as well. Buyers also get a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, rear sunshades, a dual-camera dashcam, and a small 16-litre frunk. On the safety front, the Syros EV comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, front parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake. With its strong range figures, feature-packed cabin, and aggressive pricing expected at launch, the Kia Syros EV is shaping up to be a serious contender in India’s compact electric SUV space.
