Maruti Suzuki Crosses 10,000 EV Retail Sales Milestone

Maruti Suzuki has crossed an important milestone in India’s electric vehicle market, recording 10,673 retail sales as of 22 September 2026, according to Vahan data. The achievement marks a significant step forward for India’s largest carmaker as it expands its presence in the rapidly growing electric mobility segment.
The milestone has been made possible largely thanks to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the company’s first mass-market electric SUV. With its bold SUV design, modern technology, spacious cabin and electric powertrain, the e Vitara has attracted customers looking for a practical, comfortable and environmentally friendly vehicle for everyday use.
The e Vitara has also benefited from Maruti Suzuki’s strong reputation for reliability, affordability and after-sales support. Its wide dealership and service network gives the company an advantage in reaching customers beyond major cities, where buyers are becoming increasingly interested in electric vehicles.
Crossing the 10,000-sales mark reflects the steady growth of EV adoption in India. Customers are increasingly considering electric vehicles because of their lower running costs, instant performance, quiet driving experience and reduced environmental impact. Improvements in charging infrastructure and greater awareness about EV ownership are also helping more buyers make the switch.
Maruti Suzuki’s latest achievement highlights the important role of the e Vitara in the company’s electric journey. As consumer confidence continues to grow and charging facilities expand, the e Vitara could become an even stronger contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s future EV ambitions.
