Suzuki Claims Its e-Access LFP Battery Will Last 4 Times Longer Than NMC

Suzuki Motorcycle India is making a bold claim with its e-Access electric scooter: its LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery will last up to four times longer than the NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries used in most competing EVs. According to the company, its LFP chemistry delivers roughly 4x the cycle life of conventional NMC packs, meaning the battery can withstand far more charge and discharge cycles before showing meaningful degradation.
The logic behind the choice is durability over headline numbers. Rather than chasing maximum range, Suzuki has equipped the e-Access with a 51.2V, 3.072kWh LFP pack and a secure battery box integrated into the frame, prioritizing thermal stability, safety, and long-term reliability in Indian riding conditions like heat, traffic, and frequent daily charging.

While the claimed 95km range is modest next to some rivals, Suzuki's pitch is simple: the most expensive component in any EV is the battery, and a pack that lasts four times longer means fewer worries about replacement costs and more consistent performance over years of ownership. For first-time EV buyers, that promise of longevity may prove more valuable than any range figure on paper.
The company states that the four-times longer battery-life figure is an estimated reference based on Suzuki’s in-house testing conditions. With its durable LFP battery, maintenance-free drive belt and practical charging solutions, the Suzuki e-ACCESS is positioned as a reliable and low-maintenance option for urban electric mobility.
From a total cost of ownership perspective, the engineering makes sense. But convincing buyers to pay flagship money today for entry-level range, purely for the peace of mind that the scooter will still hold a charge five years down the line, remains a tough sell on the ground.
