Volkswagen Announces the All-Electric ID. Tiguan

Volkswagen is preparing to bring one of its most familiar SUV names into the electric era with the new all-electric ID. Tiguan. Following the ID. Polo and ID. Cross, the upcoming model will become the third major Volkswagen nameplate to join the company’s growing electric vehicle range.

The ID. Tiguan is expected to launch in Europe in early 2027, with a North American release planned for a later date. Volkswagen says the new model will feature a completely redesigned appearance, giving it the strong visual presence of a vehicle from a higher segment. It will succeed the electric ID.4 and ID.5 while being offered alongside the regular Tiguan, which continues with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.

The new electric SUV is designed to combine the familiar strengths of the Tiguan name with modern electric technology. Volkswagen highlights its premium design, spacious interior, intuitive controls and innovative features. The company believes this will allow customers to choose between electric, hybrid and combustion-powered versions according to their needs.

The Tiguan name carries significant weight for Volkswagen, with more than 8.3 million vehicles produced worldwide. The company also delivered more than one million Tiguan and Tayron models in the past year. Volkswagen is expected to reveal the ID. Tiguan fully at its world premiere in early October, while testing continues under camouflage.
