Ather Konarc Launched at ₹99,999 With a Metal Body and Smart Tech

Ather Energy has officially expanded its portfolio with the launch of the Konarc, a highly practical and tech-loaded electric scooter starting at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Built on the entirely new, scalable EL-platform, the Konarc features a robust steel unibody chassis wrapped in a metal body. With deliveries slated to begin in September, this new scooter promises to deliver exceptional stability, ride comfort, and a host of segment-first technologies.

The Konarc lineup is initially available in three 'S' variants—S 100, S 125, and S 161—with the numbers corresponding to their claimed IDC range in kilometers. Ather is also gearing up to launch a premium 'Z' series (Z 125 and Z 161) alongside a long-range 200km version in the near future. Powering the S variants are IP67-rated batteries housed in an aluminum casing with capacities of 2.1kWh, 2.7kWh, and 3.5kWh. The base S 100 produces 4kW of peak power, while the larger battery models produce 4.7kW and 16Nm of torque. The S line tops out at 70kph, while the upcoming Z line will reach 80kph. Charging is versatile, utilizing a standard 450W onboard charger that can be combined with a 900W off-board unit for an impressive 1.35kW super-fast charging capacity, which takes the battery from 0-80% in as little as two hours.

Prioritizing comfort, the Konarc features the longest wheelbase of any Ather scooter at 1,352mm. It rolls on a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel setup, supported by long-travel suspension boasting 90mm of front and 100mm of rear travel. Braking duties on the base S 100 are handled by drum brakes at both ends, whereas the S 125 and S 161 upgrade to a 220mm front disc. The scooter remains highly practical for daily use, sporting a massive 31-litre underseat boot, an 18W USB Type-C port, an underseat lamp, and a refined silent gear drive system. Depending on the battery size, the scooter weighs between 126.5kg and 129kg.

Technology takes center stage with the Konarc series. The S 100 is equipped with a 4.2-inch DeepView display, while higher variants receive a full 7-inch TFT touch screen. Standard features across the board include AutoHold and Park Assist reverse. However, the upcoming Z line brings Ather's most advanced tech, including an Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) designed to minimize stopping distance and rear-wheel lock-ups. The Z variants also introduce MagicKey for keyless boot access via the Ather app, complete with an AutoPop function. The upgraded dashboard integrates Google Maps, WhatsApp, and live cricket scores, backed by Ather Connect's tow and theft alerts. Adding immense peace of mind, Ather is offering a 10-year battery warranty and extended 10,000km/1-year service intervals.
