Ather Energy is building anticipation for its upcoming family electric scooter, the Konarc, with an intriguing new teaser. Ahead of its official debut on August 29, Ather CEO Tarun Mehta shared a video demonstrating magnets sticking to the scooter's exterior, strongly hinting at the use of metal body panels. While the company hasn't confirmed if the entire body will be metal or just specific sections, this addition is expected to give the Konarc the solid, durable build quality that Indian buyers often look for in competitors like the Bajaj Chetak and Honda Activa.

Designed with practicality in mind, the Konarc will be Ather's first mass-market offering built on their new modular EL platform. This highly adaptable architecture can house battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Moving away from the sporty stance of the 450X, the Konarc focuses on everyday usability with a longer wheelbase, a wider, more accommodating seat, and a significantly larger floorboard. It is also expected to sport a handlebar-mounted headlamp, a wide LED DRL, and a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel setup.

Positioned below the recently launched Rizta, the Konarc aims to capture the budget-conscious family segment. Mechanically, the scooter is anticipated to feature a swingarm-mounted electric motor, telescopic front forks, a single rear shock absorber, and a front disc brake combined with a rear drum. Set to be unveiled at the Ather Community Day in Bengaluru, the Konarc is gearing up to be a serious challenger to popular mass-market EVs like the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
