TVS Motor Company retained the top spot with 48,875 units (27.23% market share), despite a 12.45% dip from July. Bajaj Auto held the second position with 41,019 units (22.85% market share). Together, these two legacy manufacturers controlled over 50% of the entire market, demonstrating the critical advantage of widespread dealership and service networks.


Mid-Tier Movements and Pure-Play EVs


Ather Energy remained the leading pure-play EV manufacturer in 3rd place, showing strong resilience with 28,709 registrations (down 6.29%). Hero MotoCorp followed in 4th with 18,978 units (-17.47%), while Ola Electric consolidated in 5th place with 13,849 units (-2.66%). Further down, Greaves (8,612 units), River Mobility (5,134 units), and BGauss (4,844 units) held firm inside the top eight.


Notable Growth Outliers


Bucking the industry-wide downturn, a few brands posted sharp growth. Motovolt Mobility led the gainers, surging +108.08% to 1,365 units to enter the top 10. Oben Electric jumped +46.77% to 637 units, while Bounce Electric (+11.24% to 1,049 units) and Suzuki Motorcycle India (+10.25% to 667 units) also closed August in positive territory ahead of the festive ramp-up.
