Casio Expands Its G-SHOCK Lineup with the New G-STEEL GST-W1000 Series
Casio has officially announced the latest additions to its G-SHOCK G-STEEL collection with the new GST-W1000 series. The release introduces three distinct models—the GST-W1000AD-2A, GST-W1000D-1A, and GST-W1000D-3A, which integrate an analog display with solar-powered timekeeping and Bluetooth connectivity within a metal and carbon structure.
The GST-W1000 collection is built around a case measuring 50 mm in length, 45.5 mm in width, and 13.2 mm in height, with a total watch weight of 138 grams. The case and bezel are constructed from a combination of stainless steel and bio-based carbon, utilizing Casio's Carbon Core Guard structure. The stainless steel exterior undergoes four distinct surface finishes: mirror, circular hairline, straight hairline, and honing. The case is shock-resistant and carries a water resistance rating of 200 meters.
Powering the watches is the TOUGH MVT.2, an analog movement driven by Casio’s Tough Solar charging system. Timekeeping accuracy is maintained through two primary methods: Multiband 6 radio-controlled time calibration, which receives time signals from up to six global transmission stations, and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone pairing. When linked to a smartphone via the CASIO WATCHES app, the watch performs automatic time adjustments and provides access to approximately 300 world time cities, time and place logging, and a phone finder function. Uncalibrated accuracy is ±15 seconds per month.
The dial layout is strictly analog, protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. It features three central hands (hour, minute, and second) alongside three inset sub-dials that indicate dual time (hour and minute), dual time in a 24-hour format, and the day of the week, plus a date window. Legibility is supported by Neobrite treatment on the hands and markers, as well as a white LED Super Illuminator with an afterglow function. The internal mechanics also feature magnetic field detection and an auto hand home position correction system that triggers upon impact detection.
For the bracelet, these models are equipped with a solid stainless steel band featuring a flat profile and minimal link clearance. The band fits wrist sizes from 150 mm to 205 mm and secures with a one-touch, 3-fold clasp.
The collection debuts with three specific color variants. The lineup offers a blue dial with a black ion-plated bezel (GST-W1000AD-2A), a black dial (GST-W1000D-1A), and a green dial (GST-W1000D-3A).
