FIAT Multiplina Concept

FIAT is rethinking urban mobility with the Multiplina, a fully electric concept designed to fit between the compact Topolino and a conventional passenger car. Presented at the Paris Motor Show, the Multiplina explores how a small vehicle can offer greater practicality, comfort and flexibility for everyday travel.

Measuring just 3.04 metres long, 1.40 metres wide and 1.53 metres high, the Multiplina can accommodate four occupants within an exceptionally compact footprint. It is built on an L7 heavy quadricycle architecture, which gives it more space and versatility than an ultra-compact urban vehicle while maintaining the simplicity and accessibility of a quadricycle.

The concept has been designed around real everyday needs. It could be used for commuting, school runs, shopping trips and other short journeys around town. Its compact dimensions would make it easier to drive and park in busy urban areas, while its four-seat layout provides more practicality for families and small groups than many small city vehicles.

The Multiplina is inspired by the legendary 1956 FIAT 600 Multipla. The original model was known for providing generous space within a small body, accommodating six people in only 3.5 metres. The new concept carries forward that people-first philosophy, but adapts it for modern electric mobility. Its design includes a forward-positioned windscreen, two-tone bodywork, a contemporary version of FIAT’s front “moustache” and distinctive rear air-vent details.

FIAT’s approach is not only about replacing a petrol engine with an electric powertrain. The Multiplina also reflects a wider idea of sustainable mobility. Its compact size, low weight and intelligent packaging can help reduce the need for materials and resources while still delivering the space required for daily use.

The concept forms part of FIAT’s broader micromobility vision, alongside vehicles such as the Topolino and TRIS. By combining four-seat practicality with the simplicity of a quadricycle, the Multiplina introduces what FIAT calls the “Multi-Purpose Quadricycle.” It demonstrates how thoughtful design can make mobility simpler, smarter and more accessible without relying on a large vehicle.
