Renault Reimagines Family Travel with the All-Electric E-Space Concept

Renault has presented the E-Space Concept, a fully electric MPV inspired by the original Renault Espace launched in 1984. Unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the concept explores a spacious alternative to modern SUVs, with a focus on family travel, flexible seating and in-car comfort.

The E-Space Concept measures 4.70 metres long, 2.02 metres wide and 1.67 metres high. Its design includes clean body lines, short overhangs and 23-inch wheels positioned at the corners of the vehicle. A low waistline, large side windows and a panoramic glass roof give the cabin a more open appearance. At the front, an illuminated “U”-shaped light signature surrounds the grille and Renault logo. The front splitter can also be lowered at higher speeds to improve aerodynamics.

The cabin has six individual seats arranged in three rows on a flat floor. The two second-row seats can rotate by 180 degrees to face the third row, creating a seating layout similar to a train compartment. They can also fold down to form a table. Other features include 12.3-inch screens on the backs of the front seats, a sliding central console, an air purifier, a small refrigerator and video-game controls.

The dashboard features Renault’s OpenR Panorama display, measuring around 1,130 millimetres wide and 110 millimetres high. Two flexible screens provide additional controls, while the compact steering wheel uses steer-by-wire technology, removing the traditional mechanical connection between the wheel and the front wheels.
Renault has used several bio-based and recycled materials in the interior. These include dyed straw trim, a 100% wool carpet, paint containing 18% bio-based resin and steering-wheel materials made partly from castor oil and organic cotton. The tyres contain an average of 19% natural rubber from managed plantations.
The Renault E-Space Concept remains a design study rather than a production model. It combines the practical layout of the original Espace with an electric powertrain, digital technology and a flexible interior, showing how Renault is exploring the future of family-focused vehicles.
