Seiko has announced an upcoming iteration to its King Seiko collection, the VANAC HKF005 (Ref. HKF005J1). Scheduled for release later this year, this new model is built around the 1970s architectural design elements of the historical VANAC line, introducing a new dial treatment while retaining the collection's standard mechanical specifications.

The upcoming VANAC model features a 41mm stainless steel case with a case height of 14.3mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 45.1mm. The faceted case combines broad polished shoulders with brushed surfaces, creating distinct geometric planes. A partially recessed screw-down crown and a vintage-style, box-shaped sapphire crystal protect the dial, while water resistance is rated at 100 meters (10 bar / 330 ft).

The mechanical feature of this upcoming release is the Seiko Caliber 8L45 automatic movement, which is based on the Grand Seiko 9S65 architecture. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), this 35-jewel movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. It offers a stated accuracy rating of +10 to -5 seconds per day.

Legibility and texture remain central to this dial layout. The HKF005 utilizes a deep "night sky" black tone overlaid with glitter-like speckling, designed to mimic the visual of city lights in Tokyo. The dial features subtle horizontal grooves, dark-coated hands treated with Lumibrite in-fill for low-light visibility, and the collection's signature V-shaped double index marker positioned at 12 o'clock.

For the bracelet, Seiko pairs the watch with an integrated-style stainless steel bracelet that tapers toward the clasp. The individual links alternate between polished and brushed finishes to match the contours of the case, and they are secured to the wrist using a standard folding butterfly clasp.

The King Seiko VANAC HKF005 is scheduled to be available starting October 1, 2026. It joins the catalog as a standard, non-limited production model.
