Smart #2 Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show

The smart #2 has made its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show, bringing back the brand’s iconic two-seater in a fully electric form. First introduced as a concept three decades ago, the compact city car has been redesigned for modern urban life while keeping the distinctive character that made the original smart fortwo so recognisable.

Measuring just 2,746 mm in length, the smart #2 is designed to make city driving easier. Its wheels-at-the-corners layout helps maximise interior space, while its 6.95-metre turning circle makes tight streets and narrow parking spaces easier to navigate. The two-tone exterior, practical interior and signature split tailgate continue the design features associated with the original model.
The new smart #2 is built on a dedicated Electric Compact Architecture platform. It uses a rear-mounted 60 kW electric motor that produces 130 Nm of torque and drives the rear wheels. A 35.8 kWh LFP battery is expected to offer up to 290 km of WLTP range, while 65 kW DC fast charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
Despite its small size, the smart #2 has been engineered to deliver a confident driving experience. Its five-link rear suspension is a first in its class, while the low-mounted battery helps lower the centre of gravity. Together, these features are intended to provide improved stability, comfort and sharper handling both in the city and on the highway.

Safety and technology are also central to the new model. The smart #2 features the latest Tridion Cell Evo safety structure, along with driver-assistance systems such as Smart Pilot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Highway Assist and blind-spot monitoring. Inside, a 10.1-inch central screen and an 8.8-inch driver display provide connectivity through 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

In Europe, the smart #2 will be offered in Pure, Pure+, Premium and limited Couture Edition versions. The Couture Edition will be restricted to 999 units and will include exclusive styling and premium equipment. Although the vehicle is still completing its homologation process, the smart #2 clearly aims to prove that small electric cars can be practical, stylish and enjoyable while remaining perfectly suited to crowded urban environments.
