Timex Expands the Marlin Lineup with the Chatham Automatic 36mm

Timex has added two Marlin Chatham Automatic models to its watch lineup: the TW2Y84300 and TW2Y84500. Both watches use a 36mm polished stainless-steel cushion case, a Miyota automatic movement, a leather strap sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) suppliers, and a mineral crystal. The models differ in their case finishes, dial colors, strap colors, and listed weights.
The two watches use the Miyota Caliber 8215 automatic movement. It is a self-winding mechanical movement that does not use a battery and is powered by the motion of the wearer’s wrist. Timex lists an approximately 42-hour power reserve, 21 jewels, an accuracy rating of -20/+40 seconds per day, and hacking seconds. The movement is manufactured in Japan.

Both versions have a 36mm case diameter, measured across the case and excluding the crown. The case measures 44.5mm from lug to lug and is 12mm thick. Timex lists the case material as stainless steel, with a polished finish. The case is described as resistant to rust, corrosion, and tarnish, as well as hypoallergenic. Each watch has an exhibition case back through which the automatic movement can be viewed.

The TW2Y84300 has a silver-tone case, a white dial, and a black leather strap. The TW2Y84500 uses a gold-tone case, a black dial, and a brown leather strap. Both dials use full Arabic numeral markings and the watches are fitted with Breguet numerals, according to the product descriptions.
The leather straps are 20mm wide and include quick-release spring bars for strap changes without tools. Timex identifies the leather as responsibly sourced from Leather Working Group suppliers. The TW2Y84300 is fitted with a black strap, while the TW2Y84500 comes with a brown strap. Both use a conventional buckle closure.
A mineral crystal covers each dial. Timex describes the crystal as toughened glass made from silica and says it is heat- and scratch-resistant. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters. Timex states that the watches are suitable for light swimming but not for snorkeling or poolside diving, and advises users not to press any buttons while the watch is underwater.
