Zero DS Sets New Guinness World Record with a 436.5 km Ride on a Single Charge

Zero Motorcycles has achieved a new Guinness World Records title after a Zero DS travelled 436.5 kilometres on a single charge. The record-breaking journey began in the French-Italian Alps and ended near the Mediterranean coast, proving the growing potential of electric motorcycles for long-distance travel.

Three production Zero motorcycles took part in the attempt: the Zero DS, SR/S and DSR/X. All three riders surpassed the previous record of 310.689 kilometres. Louis Renaud travelled 350 kilometres on the SR/S, while Jenny Brookes reached 384 kilometres on the DSR/X. However, Jelle Verstaen went the furthest on the Zero DS, setting the final record distance of 436.5 kilometres.

The Zero DS used its standard 15.6 kWh battery along with an optional 3.6 kWh Power Tank, giving it a total capacity of 19.2 kWh. Apart from this commercially available factory option, the motorcycle remained completely stock, with standard tyres and no special modifications. This made the achievement especially significant because it reflected what an ordinary production motorcycle can accomplish.

The riders carefully managed their speed, maintained steady momentum and planned a route that helped conserve energy. Regenerative braking on the mountain descents also helped recover some power. Even heavy rain, strong crosswinds and difficult conditions during the final stretch could not stop the Zero DS from completing the journey.

By the end of the ride, the previous record had been beaten by 125.8 kilometres, marking an improvement of more than 40 percent. The achievement comes as Zero Motorcycles celebrates 20 years of developing electric motorcycles. More than just a record, the journey demonstrates how efficient technology and thoughtful riding can help electric motorcycles travel farther than ever before.
