BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the new BMW F 450 RR, a lightweight supersport motorcycle designed to bring the brand’s famous RR character to a wider range of riders. Developed for both winding roads and racetrack use, the new F 450 RR combines sharp styling, strong performance, advanced rider assistance systems, and approachable handling. BMW describes it as an entry point into the world of its RR supersport motorcycles.

F 450 RR

The motorcycle is powered by a newly developed 420 cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. It produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of peak torque at 6,750 rpm, placing it in the A2 performance class. BMW says that 80 percent of the engine’s available torque is already produced at 3,000 rpm, giving the F 450 RR strong acceleration and responsive performance at lower engine speeds. The engine also uses a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft to create a distinctive sound while keeping vibrations under control.

Power is sent through a six-speed gearbox and an X-ring chain drive. Selected versions are equipped with BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro, allowing fast upshifts and downshifts without using the clutch lever. The motorcycle also features a reversible shift pattern, which can give riders a racing-style gear layout for track riding. An Easy Ride Clutch is available on the M Sport version with the Innovation Package. This system can reduce the need for manual clutch operation, especially in traffic and during low-speed riding.

F 450 RR

The design of the BMW F 450 RR is strongly influenced by the larger BMW S 1000 RR. Its nose-down, tail-up stance, sharp fairing, aerodynamic winglets, split front lighting, and asymmetrical side panels give it an aggressive supersport appearance. The LED headlight features BMW’s distinctive RR daytime-running-light design, while the LED indicators and taillight complete the modern look. The stainless-steel underfloor exhaust system adds to the motorcycle’s sporty appearance and helps centralize weight beneath the engine.

At 177 kg in ready-to-ride condition, the F 450 RR focuses heavily on weight reduction and agile handling. It uses a tubular steel space frame in which the engine acts as a load-bearing element. The front suspension consists of a 43 mm KYB upside-down fork, while the rear uses an aluminum hollow-cast double-sided swingarm with a KYB central spring strut. The Sport suspension available on higher variants adds further adjustment for riders who want a more focused setup for spirited road or track riding.

Braking performance comes from a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a ByBre single-piston caliper. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is fitted as standard and is designed to support braking even when the motorcycle is leaned into a corner. Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Traction Control, and engine drag torque control are also included to improve stability and rider confidence in changing conditions.

F 450 RR

The F 450 RR comes with Rain, Road, and Race riding modes, allowing riders to adjust the motorcycle’s response to suit different conditions. Higher-specification models with Riding Modes Pro add a configurable Race Pro mode, extra sport display screens, and a lap timer. The motorcycle also features a 6.5-inch TFT display with navigation, phone, and music connectivity, along with a practical USB-C charging port. Heated grips are included as standard, making the bike more useful for everyday riding.

Despite its track-focused character, BMW has designed the F 450 RR to remain practical on the road. It has a 14-litre fuel tank, claimed fuel consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 km, and a potential range of more than 350 km. The standard seat height is 790 mm, while BMW’s accessory seats can raise or lower the riding position to suit different riders. A two-piece seat and passenger footpeg brackets also add to its everyday usability.

F 450 RR

The new BMW F 450 RR will be available in four versions: Base, Sport, M Sport, and M Sport with the Innovation Package. The Base model is finished in Cosmic Black, while the Sport version is offered in Racing Red and adds Shift Assistant Pro and Sport suspension. The M Sport models receive the Snaefell White and M Motorsport colour scheme, along with Riding Modes Pro and other performance-focused equipment. The Innovation Package adds the Easy Ride Clutch, giving the range-topping version extra convenience without removing its sporting character.

With its compact engine, low weight, aggressive design, sophisticated electronics, and track-ready chassis, the BMW F 450 RR gives BMW Motorrad a strong new model in the lightweight supersport segment. It is designed to offer the excitement of an RR motorcycle while remaining manageable enough for everyday road use, making it an appealing option for newer riders as well as experienced motorcyclists looking for a nimble and accessible sports bike.
