New Kawasaki Versys 900 and Versys 900 SE 2027 Launched

Kawasaki has expanded its adventure-touring lineup for 2027 with the introduction of the Versys 900 and Versys 900 SE. Positioned as a road-focused, multi-purpose motorcycle, the new model is powered by a 948cc liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine derived from Kawasaki’s Z series nakeds. The engine produces 122 PS (89.6 kW) and has been tuned to prioritize low- and mid-range torque for daily riding, paired with long final gearing for highway cruising and a standard Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS).

The motorcycle uses a newly developed steel trellis frame designed around a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, riding on 17-inch wheels at both ends with long-travel suspension. For luggage capacity, the rear subframe is built to hold a top case and side panniers at the same time, utilizing dampers in the mounting system to help keep the chassis stable when carrying a passenger and gear. The bodywork follows Kawasaki's "Aero Edge" styling, while the ergonomics stick to a traditional upright riding position with a height-adjustable seat and a reshaped fuel tank for easier ground reach.

In terms of electronics, the Versys 900 is the first model in the Versys range to feature Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) and an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). The ARAS package includes Adaptive Cruise Control Lite, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, operating alongside an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that manages cornering ABS and rider aids. The cockpit features a 5-inch color TFT screen with turn-by-turn navigation and voice command functionality via the Kawasaki Rideology smartphone app.

Kawasaki is releasing the bike in two trims for the UK market. The base Versys 900 starts at £10,899 and is offered in Metallic Spark Black or Pearl Robotic White. The higher-spec Versys 900 SE starts at £11,799 in either Plasma Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black or Firecracker Red with Metallic Carbon Grey. For the extra £900, the SE version adds several standard touring and protection accessories, including heated grips, hand guards, LED auxiliary fog lights, a center stand, frame sliders, a radiator screen, and an under cowl.
