Highlights

  • Legacy Heavyweights Command the Road: TVS Motor Company comfortably retained its number one spot, climbing nearly 9.5% month-over-month to hit 53,990 registrations. Bajaj Auto remained in hot pursuit, delivering a stellar 17% growth jump to secure 48,383 units. Both brands are successfully leveraging their massive existing dealer networks to drive EV adoption.

  • Hero Surges as Ola Stalls: Hero MotoCorp flexed its retail muscle with a massive 27% leap, moving from 19,144 units in August to 24,307 in September. Conversely, former market leader Ola Electric faced headwinds, posting a slight month-over-month contraction (dropping to 13,449 units). This aligns with broader 2026 data indicating a consistent dip in Ola's overall market share as legacy players ramp up their offerings.

  • Ather Holds the Middle Ground: Ather Energy maintained its solid footing at number three, posting incremental growth to surpass 30,000 units. Their consistent numbers are underpinned by an aggressive retail strategy that pushed their experience center network to 700 locations nationwide earlier this year.

  • Explosive Growth from Emerging Players: The most dramatic relative gains happened further down the chart. E-Sprinto Green Energy recorded a staggering surge, rocketing from just 120 units in August to 1,997 in September. Similarly, Bounce Electric effectively tripled its output from 1,049 to 3,069 units, suggesting the successful execution of new model rollouts or highly targeted regional expansions.

  • Friction for a Few: Not everyone rode the upward wave. Brands like Simple Energy, Motovolt Mobility, and Quantum Energy experienced noticeable MoM drop-offs, underscoring just how unforgiving and competitive the sub-2,000 unit tier of the market has become.
