Mahindra has expanded its BE6 lineup with the launch of the Formula E Freedom Edition, hot on the heels of the recently introduced Sporteq variant. The new edition is available in two trims — FE and FE Four — and is priced at Rs. 24.45 lakh and Rs. 26.95 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, sans charger). Bookings are open with immediate effect, while deliveries are set to begin on 26 August.
Unlike the Sporteq Edition, the Formula E Freedom Edition is offered exclusively with the larger 79kWh battery pack, which delivers a claimed range of 683 km. Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 281 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. There are no exterior design changes over the standard model, though buyers get four colour options including a new shade called Rosso Impulso. On the inside, the cabin is finished in a black and firestorm orange theme, which is the sole upholstery option across both trims.
A key distinction from its Sporteq sibling is the retention of the two-screen halo layout instead of the newer triple-screen setup. The Three variant comes well equipped with features such as an infinity roof, LED DRL animation, powered driver’s seat with memory function, adaptive suspension, carpet lamps, and virtual engine sounds. Step up to the Four variant, and Mahindra adds Google Gemini support, a live head-up display, auto parking, Level 2 ADAS, a knee airbag, button start, and Capsense virtual engine sound.
With the Formula E Freedom Edition, Mahindra is targeting buyers who want the larger battery and a sportier Formula E connection, wrapped in a focused two-variant lineup that keeps things simple yet well-equipped.
