Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA Expand Partnership for Safer Automated Driving

Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA are expanding their strategic partnership to develop the next generation of driver-assistance and automated-driving systems. The collaboration combines Mercedes-Benz’s automotive engineering and safety expertise with NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence and accelerated computing technologies. The companies aim to make advanced driving features more capable, reliable, and accessible in the coming decade.
At the center of the partnership is Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, which supports new driving functions and over-the-air updates. It will work alongside NVIDIA Hyperion, an in-vehicle computing and sensor platform designed to help vehicles understand their surroundings and respond to complex traffic situations.
NVIDIA’s Alpamayo Stack will provide software for functions such as urban point-to-point assistance, active safety, and automated parking. The partnership will also use NVIDIA Halos, a safety system that adds redundancy and additional safeguards. Together, these technologies are expected to support future SAE Level 4 automated-driving applications, including autonomous vehicles such as “robolimousines.”
The cooperation extends beyond driving technology. Mercedes-Benz already uses NVIDIA solutions for vehicle engineering simulations and its MO360 digital production system. By combining AI with virtual planning and smart manufacturing, the companies also hope to improve efficiency, flexibility, and quality across Mercedes-Benz’s global production network.
This expanded partnership highlights how automakers and technology companies are working together to shape the future of mobility. With a focus on safety, intelligent software, and powerful computing, Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA are taking another step toward making highly automated driving part of everyday transportation.
