New Seagull Is the Most Affordable BYD to Get Flash Charging

BYD has raised the standard for affordable electric cars with the launch of the second-generation Seagull in China. The new electric hatchback is priced from ¥65,900 to ¥99,900, which is approximately €8,800 to €13,300.
The five variants are priced at approximately ¥65,900 (€8,800) for the Vitality Edition, ¥72,900 (€9,700) for the Freedom Edition, ¥75,900 (€10,100) for the Comfort Edition, ¥82,900 (€11,100) for the Flying Edition and ¥99,900 (€13,300) for the top Intelligent Fun Edition. This makes the new Seagull BYD’s most affordable model to offer its Flash-Charging technology.
The biggest update is the introduction of Flash Charging on the three higher variants. Equipped with the larger 39.2 kWh Blade Battery, these versions can reportedly charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes. A charge from 10% to 97% takes around nine minutes, allowing drivers to add a substantial amount of range during a short stop.
The second-generation Seagull is also larger and more practical than the outgoing model. It measures 4,205 mm in length and now offers seating for five people. Buyers can choose between a 30.1 kWh battery with a claimed 320 km CLTC range or a 39.2 kWh battery offering up to 420 km of CLTC range. The larger battery is available on the Flash-Charging versions, making them particularly attractive to drivers who want both longer range and faster top-ups.
BYD has also upgraded the Seagull’s interior and equipment. Depending on the variant, features include a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone charging, heated and ventilated seats, massage functions and advanced driver-assistance technology. With its low starting price, five-seat layout and five-minute Flash Charging, the new BYD Seagull brings high-speed EV charging to a much more affordable part of the market.
