Suzuki e VITARA Achieves Four-Star JNCAP Safety Rating

The Suzuki e VITARA has earned a four-star rating in Japan’s New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) for fiscal year 2026. The result reflects the electric SUV’s strong performance in both crash protection and preventive safety testing, making it a competitive choice for buyers looking for modern technology and dependable protection.
The e VITARA performed particularly well in active safety evaluations. It received the highest Level 5 rating for autonomous emergency braking when detecting pedestrians during the day and at night, as well as cyclists. The vehicle also achieved Level 5 scores for lane-departure prevention, high-performance headlights and pedal misapplication prevention.
In crash protection tests, the e VITARA earned Level 5 ratings for driver frontal protection, side-impact protection and neck-injury protection in rear-end collisions. It also received Level 4 ratings in the rear passenger full-wrap frontal test and the new offset frontal collision test. Pedestrian leg protection was rated Level 5, while pedestrian head protection received Level 3.
As an electric vehicle, the e VITARA also met JNCAP’s evaluation criteria for electric shock protection. This is an important achievement because it demonstrates that the vehicle has been assessed not only for conventional crash safety but also for risks associated with its electric powertrain.
Although the e VITARA did not receive the maximum five-star rating, its overall four-star result is still a strong performance. With advanced driver-assistance systems, solid occupant protection and dedicated electric-vehicle safety measures, the Suzuki e VITARA stands out as a well-equipped and safety-focused electric SUV.
