The Updated Hero Mavrick is Now Available in Italy as the 'Hunk 440'

The Hero Mavrick 440, once positioned as the brand's flagship premium roadster, has quietly exited the Indian market. Despite sharing a highly capable platform and engine with the Harley-Davidson X440, the Mavrick struggled to capture the desired sales volume during its run, leading to its official discontinuation in India in early 2025. However, while domestic buyers have had to bid farewell to the 440cc street bike, the motorcycle itself is far from reaching the end of its production life.

In a strategic global pivot, Hero MotoCorp has introduced the motorcycle to the Italian market under a nostalgic and aggressive new moniker: the Hero Hunk 440. Targeted primarily at Europe’s A2 license holders, the Hunk 440 is much more than a simple cosmetic rebadge. Hero has equipped the Italian-spec model with the substantial hardware and technology upgrades that Indian fans had originally hoped for. Priced at €3,990 (approximately ₹4.10 lakh), the motorcycle is now taking on the European mid-capacity segment through Hero's newly established dealership network in Italy.

Visually and mechanically, the new Hunk 440 significantly steps up its premium appeal. The most notable change is the replacement of the standard telescopic suspension with 43mm KYB gold-finished upside-down (USD) front forks, giving the bike a commanding stance and improved front-end dynamics. Additionally, the basic LCD has been swapped out for a modern TFT instrument console featuring full smartphone connectivity. The core performance remains untouched, utilizing the same proven 440cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 27 BHP and 36 Nm of peak torque, ensuring that the bold spirit of the Mavrick stays vibrantly alive on European roads.
