Timex Expands Its Marlin Lineup with the Jet Chronograph TW2Y89800

Timex has expanded its Marlin Jet line with the addition of the Marlin Jet Chronograph, introducing a bicompax chronograph layout to the 1960s-inspired collection. The TW2Y89800 pairs a sage-green dial with a stainless steel bracelet, carrying over the domed crystal aesthetic that defines the Jet series.

The watch is built around a 40 mm stainless steel case with a lug-to-lug distance of 46.5 mm, a case height of 14 mm, and a 20 mm lug width. The stainless steel case is hypoallergenic and resistant to rust, corrosion, and tarnish. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters (5 ATM / 164 ft).

The defining visual element is the domed Hesalite acrylic crystal. Rather than stopping at the steel bezel, the dome sweeps over the case and encases an angled inner tachymeter scale, creating optical distortion and magnification when viewed from the side. The crystal is flanked by vintage pump-style chronograph pushers and a grooved crown bearing a retro "Jet" insignia.

Powering the watch is a meca-quartz chronograph movement. This hybrid caliber uses quartz timekeeping for standard hours, minutes, and seconds, paired with a mechanical chronograph module that drives the chronograph functions. The result is a smooth-sweeping chronograph second hand rather than the ticking motion typical of standard quartz chronographs.

The dial is concave and finished in sage green, with applied baton indices and luminous-filled hands. The bicompax layout places a 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o'clock and a 24-hour indicator at 3 o'clock, both set into recessed white subdials. A date window sits at 6 o'clock. The fixed bezel carries a tachymeter scale.

The TW2Y89800 is fitted with a brushed-and-polished multi-link stainless steel bracelet in a beads-of-rice configuration. The bracelet can be adjusted to fit wrist circumferences between 142 mm and 205 mm (5.6 in – 8.1 in). The watch weighs 126.19 g.

The Marlin Jet Chronograph lineup includes two variants at launch. The TW2Y89800 features the sage-green dial with white subdials and the stainless steel bracelet.
