Timex Revives the Retro 1976 Watch Designed Like a Rotary Phone

Timex has brought back its 1976 Rotary Phone Dial Reissue as a 37mm leather-strap watch. Listed as a reissue and new release, model TW2Y82100 uses a black dial with full Arabic numeral markings arranged inside individual polished gold-tone frames. The layout is intended to echo the circular arrangement of a rotary telephone dial.

The watch has a 37mm gold-tone stainless-steel case with a brushed-and-polished finish. Timex lists a 43mm lug-to-lug distance, a 12mm case height, and a total watch weight of 51.02 grams. The case is paired with a brown leather strap measuring 20mm in band or lug width and secured by a buckle.

Power comes from a battery-operated quartz analog movement. The listed battery type is SR920SW. The dial is covered by an acrylic crystal, which Timex describes as a lightweight plastic polymer with impact resistance and a warm vintage appearance.

At 3 o’clock, the watch has a twin porthole day-and-date window. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters. According to Timex, the watch is suitable for light swimming but is not intended for snorkelling or poolside diving; the company also advises against pressing any buttons while the watch is underwater.
